Tan has been in job 2 days, looked at the foundry/TD org chart and said "are you kidding me??".... I like Ann but Intel needs to move forward quickly... Naga is perfect for this. I have tons of optimism for Intel suddenly.
Can't wait to see the external people Tan brings in.
How are they behind Intel? I do think Intel is poised to take market from Samsung if the execute and i hear it has been years since Samsung had a manufacturable foundry tech.
We are blessed to have CEOs of Chinese/Taiwanese descent in the US ..... More please.
As I have said before, Anyone who is even remotely related to Lisa Su/Jensen should be a priority hire for any tech firm CEO position :)
Tan will be very different. Pat was trying to resurrect the past (times change) as if Intel was entitled to lead in tech. The board agreed
IMO tan will say what a new and different Intel should be and how to get there. I assume the board agrees. This will be a more radical change than any...
LBT disagreed with what Pat was doing and planning to do. He quit the board. Now he has committed to be CEO. I think we can summarize that they will not be following Pat's plan and may do the opposite (I hope so). And like Pat, I am sure he got the backing of the board to do what he wants...
I would ask "which Microsoft part is taping out on Intel 18A?" Also Is Microsoft doing the tapeout or is it Broadcom doing a customer part for Microsoft?
I dont think it is a joke, it would depend on parameters. TSMC just cannot take on any risk. So if you put Intel Foundry into a JV LLC and let TSMC be managing partner (<50%) with little investment they can be king of the world with little money invested or risk. @Daniel Nenni want competition...
I have worked with China and Taiwan at 4 different companies over the course of 20 years. outsource and as an internal division. We know that IP leaks and we make decisions based on this. We know that they want to train their people to do the work in the future. we are fine with that. Everyone...
china doesnt wildly change tariff and export license models with major US companies. Only the US does BS like that (trump and Biden). If you ask tech companies today "who is easier to work with ... China or the US" what do you think the answer will be?
On the optimistic side: Trump starts with...
what process does Samsung run in the US now and about how many WSPM?
Remember when people were worried we wouldn't have enough people for all the US fabs? (Intel, Samsung, Micron, TSMC) This will be remembered as the Era of the mythical Fab in the US.
Can you put pickleball courts into an...
China heavily subsidized all foreign companies that moved there. Intel, Samsung, Hynix, WDC, ASE, Foxconn.... Also created free trade zones for companies.
You bring successful foreign companies in to help the people and economy.... then work on local companies. Its a good strategy
