Will our new government even understand tech?

The big question is will the new US government understand tech and how to utilize its massive power to leverage resources in almost everything, but especially education that offers the ability to learn to leverage almost every industry we have is only politics and special interests can be overcome. Sadly, I have seen special interests hold the US back especially in education, medical and numerous other fields at tremendous cost in quality and quantity. If we want to continue to live on this planet, we will have to accelerate progress and leverage resources on a scale that will require vastly increased application of current and advancing technologies. The alternative is to live in an environment that is both physically and politically hostile to a better life that will require accelerating advancement to deal with a vastly overpopulated planet based on the current application of technologies. This is especially true since the US is the leading producer of new IP and technologies. Any thoughts or comments appreciated.
