What fields can't be automated, and the answer is none. It's just a matter of time with tech using its own technology to advance ever faster over an ever increasing number of tasks from the simple to the most complex cutting edge. The social and economic dislocations over the next decade will be more than all previous human history. Dealing with this rapid and accelerating change will be of utmost importance and require wisdom combined with open minds. This is the greatest power that mankind has ever faced and I hope we use and manage it wisely. The importance of forums like SemiWiki is not to be underestimated.
