VA likely to outperform VR this Christmas

Virtual assistants (Amazon Echo and similar) are likely to blow VR out of the water in sales this Christmas. Part of the reason is assumed to be cost - $400 and up VR vs $180m for Echo (though the Samsung Gear at $100 dips below this), part is accessibility (not too many platforms supported). I would guess multi-user value and ease of use might be factors too. VAs can be used by anyone in the room at any time, but you to take turns to don a cumbersome headset for VR.

Virtual assistants expected to top virtual reality in holiday sales

I have already gotten two Amazon Echo Dots for Christmas ($40). I'm guessing that will be the top seller. It really is just a cheaper smartphone that is always on. I have an original Echo ($140) that we use daily in the kitchen. My wife is not comfortable with having one in the bedroom. VR in the bedroom might be interesting...
