The U.S.-China technology war is causing divisions in globalization! Liu Deyin warns: Global innovation will slow down

According to comprehensive media reports, TSMC Chairman Liu Deyin attended a public speech last week and shared a speech titled "TSMC in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Era". He mentioned that under the fragmentation of globalization, demands for national security have emerged, which has the greatest impact on the industry and economy. The hidden worry is that global innovation will slow down. He also expects Huida to become the world's largest semiconductor company.

Liu Deyin said that amid the fragmentation trend of globalization, TSMC customers pay more attention to manufacturing in different regions and gradually expand global layout in response to customer requirements. More importantly, they attract talents from around the world. When it comes to investing in the United States, Liu Deyin said that he has good communication with local labor unions in the United States and will continue to solve problems. It is also an opportunity for learning and growth.

Huida's Q3 financial report once again exceeded expectations. Research agency TrendForce pointed out that although Huida's high-end GPU shipments are strong, the recent wave of US bans has impacted its business in China. Huida has launched products that meet specifications in a timely manner. Such as H20, L20 and L2, but Chinese cloud companies are still in the testing and verification stage, and it is difficult to make a substantial revenue contribution in the fourth quarter. It is expected that the volume will gradually increase in the first quarter of 2024.

The global semiconductor industry is obviously concentrated. According to the top ten companies in wafer foundry revenue provided by TrendForce, TSMC topped the list in the first and second quarters, with revenue falling from 60% of the entire industry to 56.4%.

The rankings are TSMC, Samsung, GlobalFoundries, UMC, SMIC, Hua Hong, Tower Semiconductor, Power Semiconductor, World Advanced Technology and Crystal Integration, surpassing DB Hitek to return 10th place.

It is amazing how international business and cooperation declines when some nations become militarily aggressive and threatening, and then those same nations complain when other nations want to limit business with them and minimize dependencies on them. What a surprise!

  1. 1. Win the Cold War against communists
  2. 2. Dump all your strategic industries to a communist country
  3. 3. Wait 30 years
  4. 4. Get "What a surprise!"
The situation we have now was so obvious and so predictable
