Semi Technologies to Revolutionize Batteries

I see no reason why semi technologies from chemistry, materials and manufacturing will start being applied to batteries and give many companies in the space unparalleled opportunities to leverage the technologies they already have and been developing for years. I see firms like AMAT are already showing interest in this area and are using their venture capital arms in this area. Anyone with additions, thoughts and comments in this area would be appreciated. This is already an area of investment for me.
