View attachment 13081Renesas is after higher performance industrial automation and IoT applications with their new 32-bit microcontroller family, the RX71M Group. Designed around the RXv2 core, the clock has been upped to an impressive 240 MHz, delivering a 1056 CoreMark figure. Performance has been enhanced with optimized cache and 1-cycle wait 120 MHz on-chip flash, with capacity up to 4 MB.

The RX71M Group offers a full suite of peripherals, including Ethernet, CAN, USB 2.0, I2C, SPI, SD, a serial sound interface, a parallel image capture unit, and 12-bit A/D and D/A converters. There is also hardware acceleration for encryption, supporting AES, DES, SHA, and RNG. Immediate sampling is available, production is scheduled for June 2015; no pricing is given.
