New Phase Change Memory

The race is on for phase change memory with 3dXpoint, Crossbar and now a new one from IBM. None are in final production yet, but will be soon. Memory is about to go through its greatest changes ever. The days of the disk drive are approaching their end. I'm sure this is just the beginning of a whole new wave of technologies in memory. Many new lessons on semiconductors will be learned along the way and we will see new technologies and construction in all semis. We are reaching a critical mass in knowledge that's about to explode from increasing education, computer power, memory, collaboration through better communications of all types. IOT and lastly, AI. Prepare for a Brave New World that will offer unlimited new opportunities and abuses. I hope we have the wisdom to manage them. The word is Apple will have 256 gig on their new phone, which should help drive the memory market.

IBM breakthrough gives blistering phase-change memory new practicality

Yes, it looks like it should be start being mass produced the first quarter of next year or maybe earlier. Intel handed out engineering samples to key customers to see how to incorporate 3dXpoint into their designs.
