Lucid to Compete with Tesla

It looks like the Lucid out of China may be serious competition for Tesla and a serious customer for advanced semis, stating a full autonomous car in their high end Dream edition this year. It will be interesting to see how the Chinese government plays this hand. The head engineer is from Tesla and was key in disigning the Tesla S, so this could be a game changer and create an even larger market for the high end semis for autonomous cars. The more demand and larger market for these chips should lead to lower prices in the long run, just like all other technologies. Any insights on this company and how the Chinese are going to enter the market are appreciated. I wonder how much the Chinese have learned and appropriated from the Chinese Tesla plant.

There is nothing hard in making an electric car, and an excellent one at it.

Anybody can beat Tesla, just put a bigger battery, and 1 megawatt motor, and you will beat Model S. It is just beating Model S will not win you the market.

The problem is to sell it. Really, today, you can make a mid-tier EV cheaper than a normal car in China since you save so much on parts, and complex assembly lines, but for some reason, the total EV domination is nowhere on the horizon.
