It seems very strange to me that Intel doesn't use their most advanced 10nm to manufacture Rocket Lake line that's just released. Instead Intel went back to the old 14nm technology and got bad reviews all over the place.
This is a huge deal. Intel put there best on rocket lake and still came out with an underwhelming product. A reorg is coming as well as questions about idm.
Intel Rocket Lake product line was released on March 30, 2021. Why Intel has to go back to the older 14nm (or 14nm +*?) for a group of flagship CPUs? What went wrong with Intel's 10nm technology?
IMHO, yield limitation is not the only and major reason why Intel dropped 10nm and went back to 14nm technology to manufacture Rocket Lake. Intel's willingness to take so much risk to release Rocket Lake and consequently received very bad product reviews is an indication of something much more serious. Hope someone can share his/her thoughts.
It's true Intel has a process problem. From the other side there is a difference between the products that are reviewed by the youtubers and what most people buy. Most people don't spend the money for a flag ship CPU. And the 11600K is reported to be competitive with similar spec'ed AMD Ryzen chips.
