AI/ML is going to allow advanced automation of many professions, do the readers have a timeline for the changes and what fields will be most impacted?
Any additions and other comments on this area also sought. What companies will lead the charge and prosper? Thanks
This young PhD found that ChatGPT 01 could write the code to do a complex astrophysics data transformation in an hour - something that took him one year of his graduate school to complete. So... I'm not sure we want to tell kids to learn coding anymore....
I showed this video to my supervisor some time ago. He told me that if I asked him now, he could write the code for his PhD thesis in 15 minutes. It all depends on how the methodology section is written. So, ChatGPT in essence translates that section into code—but nothing new is created.

AI can assist in the research process, but it cannot independently conduct research. While it can automate experiments, a verification process—typically carried out by humans—is still required. Therefore, we cannot truly claim that AI can perform research entirely on its own. If AI were capable of autonomously handling every aspect and consistently producing useful results, it might align more closely with what we call AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). That’s just my understanding of the subject.
