With home monitoring of blood pressure, blood sugar, heart rate, oxygen levels, sleep apnea other tests coming online how far will semis penetrate into home medical monitoring and maybe even advancing to control medical conditions? Is remote medical monitoring the next large semi market? Will real time monitors and devices used to control conditions like a pacemaker be the next large market?
I have devices monitoring all those parameters you listed, Apple watch being the most critical one but also other digital devices measuring and recording. But other than knowing more about these numbers (maybe nodge me to eat more healthy and exercise), they don't do much else. So I seriously doubt simply more silicon will resolve the US health care crisis. Financial planners that I know are telling people to plan for age 90 so you had better keep on working. And life beyond 80 requires much more hospital time, my personal observation. It's a conspiracy!
Individual responsibility is the first requirement for good health. Fortunately, we now have access to more information and tools to help us maintain our health. Good health, with rare exceptions is about personal choices, but we now have more information and tools at our disposal to give us the tools to manage our health. My sport scale gives me great input over a range of parameters and motivation to stay on track. It's telling when guests step on it and reactions it gets. It definitely doesn't allow to lie to yourself.
