How far along is the full application of AI/ML?

AI/ML are among the greatest powers mankind has been given. Any thoughts on the timing and speed of integration would be greatly appreciated. Who is currently winning the race to apply this by country, economy and business? Any thoughts on how AI/ML may impact governance worldwide? My best guess is about ten years. Any thoughts or insights appreciated.
