For me the ability to do a design at "electronic systems level" means building a complete system (like a cellphone) that incorporates multiple technologies (audio to RF), starting with high level (abstract) models and software for most of the system and being able to refine the models down into actual hardware (IP, FPGAs, ASICs etc.), with the ability to trade-off hardware and software at various levels (considering power and related issues).

As far as I can tell that isn't really possible yet, so if you are doing "ESL design" what level are you starting at, and what tools are you using to get to a final implementation?
