Batteries, High Growth Market for Semi Technology

Arthur Hanson

Well-known member
Batteries present one of the greatest, large markets for many semi technologies and present an excellent opportunity to spread the costs of many semi technologies over a much larger base. The number of varied and different technologies coming into the battery and energy storage technologies will offer many semi technology companies to leapfrog the competition by adding significant market share by adapting existing technologies and manufacturing processes to a large and rapidly growing market. This is as much about economics and business practices as it is about the raw technologies. Already there are a number of new battery technologies coming on board and I have no doubt we shall see many more coming on the scene in the next few years. In short, batteries and energy storage systems are going to advance, change and have cost declines at the same speed as the semi/nanotech sector. This will have a staggering impact on transportation, housing, the grid and areas we haven't even imagined yet. All these changes are going to come on at a far faster rate than past technologies for the semi sector has already established an ever accelerating rate of change in technologies, business models and costs that is already being applied to all phases of energy storage and transfer.
