Apple's New Fab

Mems, although not expensive in themselves, will be the driver for the semi end of devices and will drive the largest portion of growth in the future and Apple fully understands this. You will be taking devices that cost tens of thousands and applying the scaling downward of cost and size shrink that the semi world brought to the computational world to the physical world. This is the next wave of staggering size. We should be looking at a thirty year run, of which we are about five years into now.

If I remember well, we have addressed this news last fall, discussed it in Semiwiki, and came to the conclusion that this fab could be a pilot line, but the capacity was far too small to support Apple's need for devices in production. But that's an interesting news, according with Arthur, MEMS have a great future.
