T. J. feels restricting 12nm and 14nm from China puts them between a rock and a hard place with AI/ML. He said we should go to the negotiating table with China for the good of both sides. He also stated that the US will have to exit the low-end chips and specialize in the top twelve percent of chips that are high end and exit the low end where the US is uneconomic. He stated a chip war will help neither side. Any thoughts or comments appreciated.
At this point, there is nothing left for win-win. There is only one dimenson that they are negotiating, that is the speed of innovation. China want to speed up and outrun US on chips and STEM, where US would like China to stay and stop right now.
