Intel names ‘long-term’ successor to its technology development chief and top Oregon executive

I think it is really interesting that Intel chose to announce this. (even if it was just announced internally -- Intel had to know it would leak)

Why would they do this ? It seems like there would be no upside as Intel is at a key point for bringing in foundry customers. Stability would be important.

I wonder if it is related to 18A ? That is the technology that Pat G said they are betting the company on. (I forget his precise wording.)

Or it could be related to something personal. Or maybe pushed by the BOD for some reason?
