A new Interview with Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger in Israel

Pat really pledged his allegiance to Israel on this one. This leads me to believe that the Tower Semiconductor management will take over IFS which in my opinion would be great. Thoughts?
I agree. Pat Gelsinger is buying a foundry "operation and management" expertise through the Tower acquisition. If they can successfully build enough value on IFS, at certain point Intel can spin off the entire manufacturing division to "unlock" shareholders' value.

The more I think, the more I feel Intel and Pat Gelsinger's true intention is to spin off Intel's manufacturing division eventually. What he is doing now is to make IFS more attractive and more self-sufficient to compete.

Tower needs independence. intel foundry is so small that you're probably right about ceding ifs. There will be huge demand in tower's services but it's because of performance not salesmanship.

A little more info here from Pat about his intentions for Tower: https://www.calcalistech.com/ctechnews/article/hjejqjogc

A few takeaways I gathered:

- Re: Intel Foundry “the new division is based on Tower”.

- Pat “tripled the size of VMWare” through acquisitions, and “has a lot of experience in successful acquisitions which Intel hasn’t had”; I think Tower and Manufacturing/Foundry are here to stay and we’ll see more acquisitions based on this.

- Pat wants to expand Towers offerings and made statements that Tower employees don’t have to worry about downsizing during the merger

- He wants to return 50% of chip manufacturing to US and EU (though talks a lot about building up Israel)

Tower will either be Intel or spun off and Intel is getting a bargain.

Europe has a lot of problems. Russia and China's alliance will be formidable. They will either rise or bend the knee and I expect western Europe to bend the knee to russia. The unity isn't there.

Sorry but I disagree, Intel has a a terrible track record with acquisitions.
They need to focus on TD! 100% focus. Not acquisitions.
On the other hand, maybe that's what Pat is saying, Tower will focus on Foundry and there is a way to go forward with this without distractions. We'll see I guess.

Tower is a company that can do things no other company can. Intel gets a bargains and industry gets a superior product.
