This is but one of many advances in Li battery technology in the last few months. Batteries are now starting to advance as the same speed as semis. This accelerating rapid advance in battery technology will make as many changes in the world as semis have. This is all part of the "Great Acceleration" that is taking place in all technologies, from teaching/instruction to the hard sciences. The future belongs to those that can connect the dots and vectors that are forming the future. To bad governments haven't figured out how to break the cycle or rise and falls and become evolutionary instead of degenerating into a mess and dying. My hope is that the transparency that only advanced technology can provide can some how break this cycle of destruction and change it into a flow instead.
I hope you are right, I long for the time when Solar+battery storage is more cost effective than staying on the grid.
Unfortunately most of the time the new reported techniques fail to get to production phase likely due to problems found during QA.
We still have to wait for the improved battery technology to leave the research lab and make it into commercial production after passing longevity testing.
