What happened to Renesas's STOB (Silicon on Thin Buried Oxide) technology?

Hi,

Back in 2019, Renesas announced SOTB (Link) which promissed excellent power consumption for MCUs, they even released an MCU line: the RE01 (R7F0E). Now, more than 5 years later, theres hardly any information about it. It neve really hit the market, except for a few part numbers available in Digikey with very low stock. I wonder if it was a market failure (I doubt it given its capabilities) or if there was some technical hurdle Renesas could not resolve.

Anyone else heard about it?
R
