Excited to welcome my good friend and well respected engineering leader, Kevork Kechichian to Intel Corporation! Kevork has many years of experience building and leading world-class engineering teams at ARM, NXP and Qualcomm and I am looking forward to working with him as he leads Intel’s Datacenter business.

I am also looking forward to working with Srinivasan Iyengar as he takes on a new responsibility leading Central Engineering at Intel Corporation. I am also excited to partner with Srini to build a new custom design services business at Intel!

Central Engineering...?

Custom silicon in support of both groups. So x86 related chips amongst others. I believe Intel already does this but it will be expanded. The b$10B Broadcom custom silicon deal is good incentive. I do worry that Intel is still following the puck rather than going to where it will be. Lip-Bu is not normally a puck follower so it is probably wasted worry.

So you put someone with experience in companies like Qualcomm or NXP as the head of the Intel server business? Fail move if I ever saw one.

Reminds me of when Commodore put the former designer of the IBM PC Jr. As CTO and one of the guys who bankrupted Motorola as CEO. I think they lasted 3 years before bankruptcy.
