TSMC reported third-quarter revenues of US$17.3 billion in 2023, with a net profit of $6.7 billion. Advanced processes—namely 7nm and above—accounted for 59% of total wafer revenues. TSMC expects IC design inventories to continue to decrease and reach a healthier level by the end of the 4Q23, with preliminary signs of demand stabilization in the PC and smartphone end markets.

GlobalFoundries reported 3Q revenues decreased by 11% to US$1.85 billion, with a net profit of $249 million. GlobalFoundries has been assisting customers with excess order volumes to reduce unused inventory. This means its factories are not currently running at full capacity, which should shorten the overall industry downturn. GlobalFoundries also noted that the global chip industry's oversupply situation is easing, and it expects 4Q revenues to exceed the company's previous forecasts.

UMC announced its 3Q operating report for 2023, with consolidated revenues of $1.77 billion, a 24.3% YoY decrease. UMC expects short-term demand in the computer and communications sectors to gradually recover in the fourth quarter, while the automotive market remains challenging, with customers still managing inventory levels cautiously.

SMIC reported third-quarter revenues of $1.62 billion in 2023, a 15% decrease YoY but a 3.9% QoQ increase. SMIC's overall shipments continued to grow, with a 9.5% quarterly increase, but the average capacity utilization rate fell by 1 percentage point to 77.1%. The monthly production capacity increased from approximately 754,000 8-inch equivalent wafers in the second quarter to about 796,000 in the third quarter. Additionally, SMIC has increased its capital expenditures for the year to around $7.5 billion, a 26% YoY increase.
