Subscription Plans will become the rule

With everything from software to hardware, to education advancing at an ever-accelerating rate, subscription plans in just about everything will become the rule. The economics of the current structures are either failing to keep up or horribly expensive in time and resources and not everyone needs or uses cutting edge skills and products. The current system fails at the leading edge by being expensive and with ever shorter half lives as to usefulness whether skill sets, software or hardware. Being able to make it so software, hardware and skill sets can be the right combination in time, cost and application will speed progress up and lower costs at the same time. The world is moving ever faster and subscription models will rule. Apple looking at putting its products on subscription plans will be a major step in this direction and keep Apple a leader. The world is moving ever faster and the old business models have to change for many are already failing in time, costs and usefulness. A significant part of this will be the transition from products to platforms.
