Hisroshima University, NIICT and Panasonics have developed a transmitter able to transmit data at over 100Gb/s in a single channel, using the 300 GHz band. An exciting application would be satellite-based THz communication which could greatly improve global access. Of course users would still need to connect to a ground-based uplink/downlink, but one problem at a time...
