Some interesting observations on AI that should give us pause. In the history of man there will be before and after AI as the most important dividing line in our progress. This will present more opportunity than anything we have ever dealt with and more danger than even nuclear or biological warfare. AI will play a critical part in the human race getting off planet.

It considers problems such as how can people know that robots created as new language if they can't understand it. AI is like controlled fusion. It is 10 years away and always will be.
I don't agree with you on AI, but I do agree on fusion. Lawrence Livermore Lab used the ten years to fusion argument for the last forty years to justify a welfare program for engineers and scientist that yielded almost nothing in the real world for the amount of dollars spent. By the time their research came out, most had already been out there a few years and actually applied at a very small fraction of the cost. One study estimated that the work at the lab could have been done for five cents on the dollar by private industry. I agree with that estimate for many reasons. There is a staggering difference in applying science at a reasonable cost and time frame between government and private industry.
