Nvidia's $1 billion stake sends Nokia to decade high on AI hopes

Nvidia will pay $1 billion for a stake of 2.9% in Nokia as part of a deal focused on AI and data centers, the Finnish telecom equipment maker said on Tuesday as its shares hit their highest level in nearly a decade.

Nokia now owns Bell Labs and a vast portfolio of patents from the Alcatel-Lucent acquisition. The potential AI applications in mobile networks and mobile devices could be far greater than those envisioned in the AI PC concept.
 
I always thought Nokia was ruined by Microsoft's play -- but it sounds like phones may have been a distraction compared to the networking business :)
 
Nvidia has an investment arm called NVentures which is very active in the VC world. I know some of their investments, mostly AI as you could imagine. These investments are in the millions versus the billions Nvidia is now investing but wow, GO NVIDIA!
