Levels of autonomy in FDA-cleared surgical robots: a systematic review - PMC
The integration of robotics in surgery has increased over the past decade, and advances in the autonomous capabilities of surgical robots have paralleled that of assistive and industrial robots. However, classification and regulatory frameworks have ...

These regulations are setting the stage for medical robots which I have no doubt will be updated at an ever-accelerating rate. The range of autonomy is already increasing and with the rising cost of medical provides the inputs that this is just the very beginning of a coming revolution/evolution of medical robotics. The only question in what areas robotics will be equal or superior to a doctor and in what areas. If the US doesn't set up a good framework, I see the Chinese taking the lead in this fast moving and growing market on a worldwide scale. Any thoughts, comments or additions sought and welcome.
