Intrinsic ID and Finger Printing Chips

Intrinsic ID a Dutch company has developed a way to ID Physical Unclonable Functions (PUF) on chips as an additional security function. This should open up a whole new avenue of providing security for devices. It should also provide an invaluable forensic tool for identifying specific devices involved in a transaction or action. Maybe it could also be used as a quality control tool for semis and other devices. I wonder if the technology could also be used to provide a unique identifying characteristic of almost any device.
