He Was Going to Save Intel. He Destroyed $150 Billion of Value Instead.

Putting this on Pat Gelsinger is real BS. Was it Pats fault that previous CEO’s spent huge amounts of money on share buybacks instead of investing in the future? Did that decade of under investment leave intel in the precarious conditions it was already facing when Pat became CEO?

Also, of course the share price was inevitably going to tank when the share dividends had to be cancelled due to those preceding conditions which left intel in a “mud pit”. You can’t continue to hand out money you need for investing in the future of the company in the tens of billions needed for those fabs.

To blame Pat Gelsinger for these inevitability’s is ridiculous.
CEO No.1 job in publicly listed company is shareholder value is it not?

So share buybacks was likely a key driver of this , even if its to the detrement of the long term future of the company.

Monday morning quarterbacks... Of course he should have played the geopolitical advantages of operating a very needed technology in the US. Of course he should try to keep complementary business units intact. Of course he should bet on the foundry.... there aren't many of them. Work with your strengths.

The BOD folded with a full house.
