In the first quarter of 2022 AMD overtook MediaTek for the #4 position. Acquiring Xilinx was a big help there but AMD has been posting huge growth numbers so I expect their rise to continue. With Broadcom transforming into a software clearinghouse I would expect AMD to jump up to #3 behind Nvidia and Qualcomm. I do not see AMD overtaking Nvidia or Qualcomm but being #3 would be quite impressive, absolutely.
