According to the www.Alexa.com website ratings Mentor is the smaller company but has the better global rating? Why is this upside down? The Country ratings are not what I expected either. Do you think these numbers make sense?

Interesting numbers, thank you. On SemiWiki Cadence is #1, Synopsys #2 and Mentor #3 for average blog views but it is pretty close.

The top three traffic drivers on SemiWiki are TSMC, ARM, and Intel by a pretty large margin.

The SemiWiki Alexa numbers are close to our internal numbers. If you want to do more data mining we get on average 100k visitors a month.
 
To play the devil's advocate... :)

I presume the statistics for mentor.com, cadence.com, and synopsys.com include the Mentor SupportNet, Cadence SourceLink, and Synopsys SolvNet sites, as well.

So, the hits to these domains (and the time on site) could imply that users are requiring more product support, instead of being interested in product information -- that could be viewed as a negative characteristic, rather than a positive.

Just being contradictory... :)

The interesting thing is bounce rate which I assume is people who arrived by mistake and leave or just came to read one page. The EDA guys are close but it does give Cadence an edge. The media guys are not close and this is really interesting:

  1. SemiWiki Bounce Rate 36.10%

One of the reasons is that SemiWiki is a membership site with content coming from members in the form of blogs, comments, and posts to the forum and calendar of events. As a result we have new content everyday so there is lots more to click on per visit.
