Does Apple have an AI chip advantage for AV

Can Apple, with TSMC, develop chips with AI and security to give them a significant advantage in Autonomous Driving? And especially since they both leverage high-volume A- and M-series chips. Apple has a non-cloud AI approach.

I would say yes. The Apple/TSMC relationship is the best I have seen in the semiconductor industry. Apple writes some very big checks so I would not bet against them in the semiconductor space.

Thanks Daniel, I'm wondering if there is a much bigger impact. Could the Apple/TSMC chip advantage become a game changer in AV? I take the Apple Watch as an example where Apple has no effective competition. Is the chip advantage enough or do all the other car BOM and branding issues overwhelm and chip advantage.

Apple certainly does have the lead on edge computing. I see no reason why they could not extend that into cars, it seems like a natural fit. Apple doing their own chips certainly is an advantage. The M1 is impressive. My guess is that Apple will focus on ADAS and not the whole car if that is what you are asking.
