Copyright Law that Could Change Everything

This could turn copyright law into an anti competition weapon to stifle competition and innovation. There should be a nation/world wide right to repair law. This issue has many sides and should make for some interesting discussion. It will also be interesting to see variations of copyright law and the many permeations that could create a legal morass of unprecedented scale. As the world gets more complicated and software permeates everything these issues will shape the physical, financial and virtual world in ways we haven't even imagined yet. This will touch every facet of the high tech industry from initial concept to when the consumer throws the product away.

I couldn't find the link. When I search I got your post. I think current US copyright law is good and
a good way to protect at least EDA software. My company (called Pragmatic C before the
name was changed to Tachyon Design Automation) won two cases against Cadence where
registered copyright triple damages came into play. First was an arbitration in 1996 and
second was a 2002 Minnesota Federal case (Pragmatic C Software v. Antrim Design). Antrim
assets had been purchased by Cadence by then. Case is now famousj among lawyer for a
legal precedent and discussed in legal textbooks.
