Probably the same excitement and anticipation of a large, systems-level company wanting to acquire Cadence, like Siemens acquiring Mentor Graphics. Beating your earnings by $0.01 is not enough to drive a stock up almost 12% in a single trading day.
I do know that hardware emulation is a growing market segment, and I've heard that Cadence is growing faster than Mentor Graphics in that area, plus the order size of emulators can be multi-million.

From what I am told AtopTech customers are moving to Cadcence...... A little bitter probably. Cadence certainly did leap frog Mentor in emulation.

Does that mean that Cadence is likely to purchase the assets of AtopTech?
Probably not with the Synopsys legal liability.... My guess is that Synopsys will assimilate them.

Yes, Synopsys buying the assets makes fiscal sense, then they can migrate the AtopTech customers to the SNPS P&R tool, IC Compiler.
