Botnet armies are now for hire, comprising up to 400K devices and have already caused serious harm to many systems. We have truly entered the wild wild west age of anything goes for the dark side of the net world. This increasingly will drive the pace of obsolescence in the semi world for devices as new technologies in hardware are going to be constantly required to keep up with security issues that can't be handled with software alone. It is only a matter of time before lawyers really get ahold of this issue and it becomes a fertile ground for lawsuits. We are truly entering a brave new world of law, ethics, morals and warfare that we currently don't have a clue how things will turn out. The semi, software and many other industries are going to have to get together and see how they are going to bring some sense of order and evolution to this rapidly changing and potentially very dangerous world. The potential for damage or progress is only limited by someone's imagination and we can only hope it isn't the wrong person.
