Apple Violates Chinese Design Patents with iPhone 6

I've always been amazed that Apple was granted a design patent for a rectangular shape with rounded corners for their fashionable iPhone product, because it was so obvious to me that prior art was filled with dozens of consumer products that are a rectangular with rounded corners.

Now the tables have turned, and a Chinese court has ruled that Apple is violating design patents from Shenzhen Baili and therefore must stop selling its popular iPhone 6 model in China.

If design patents were issued in the automotive world and defended in the courts, then we would likely have to stop buying new automobiles because of the striking amount of design re-use in the shape of our cars.

Did you mean to say that the Samsung Galaxy s7 had issues where the batteries caught fire? I haven't really heard about the iPhone 7 catching fire.
