Machine automatically assembles complex molecules at the microscopic level
Big Data/Communications/Processing power/Mems/Robotics
Robotics are going to provide the last link in a chain of technologies that are going to fundamentally change our concept of how we view the world. Automation is now climbing the chain into the professions. We are very close to entering the world of the Automation Of Everything. As we get closer and closer to AI it is not a stretch to see how repeatedly the Semi sector has taken dreams and not only made them come true, but made these dreams commodities. The challenge now is how are we going to harness a literal tidal wave of innovation. How we handle innovation and change our going to the most valuable skill set we can develop. Semis are driving revolutions in energy (fracking and solar), medical (imaging and monitoring), communications (fiber and wireless internet, smart phone), robotics, automation, SOCs and LOCs. The real challenge is going to how as a society as a whole adapts to these changes in a positive manner without huge negative repercussions. How we handle the technology will become even more important than the technology itself. Remember, if the ship sinks, first class goes down to.
