AI/ML/Robotics, the automation of everything

How will society and the professions handle AI/ML three years from now when massive displacement will take place. It's coming and there is no stopping it. Many professions and occupations will never be the same. Many professions replaced by self-directing AI/ML and occupations replace by AI/ML controlled robotics? Will this lead to a vast concentration of wealth and power? Will poor countries fall even farther behind? I feel when much of the current researchers work will be done by AI/ML using robotic labs. Any thoughts or comments welcome. AI/ML will be the greatest game changer in human history. Any thoughts, additions or observations appreciated.

While I think it's coming, I'm not sure most jobs will be wiped out in 3 years.

Lots of folks are on the hype/FOMO train about AI now, especially clueless decision makers. We have yet to slide into the Trough of Disillusion let alone reach the Plateau of Reality in those Gartner curves about new tech.

So my timeline is more like let's see in 10 years.

Meanwhile I wonder, when we hit that trough, will anyone think to put any of that idle iron to work on real problems like
Better fission reactors
Fusion
Better solar cells
Concrete replacements
Carbon sequestration
Better chips and designs

Thanks, I feel the earliest disruption will be in the labor market and will be unpredictable based on available software and systems. Handling the disruptions for others will become a challenge and major business. Mistakes will be made.
