"Even when we extrapolate the best-case scenario for chip production from our suppliers, it's still not enough," Musk said last year, at Tesla's AGM. "So I think we may have to do a Tesla terafab. It's like giga but way bigger. I can't see any other way to get to the volume of chips that we're...
I do know Dylan, we tried to work together when he first got started. I would say he is a borderline genius with very strong opinions that sometimes are viewed as fact. He also has flair for the camera so definitely an asset for the industry as long as he is taken in context. Dylan is like...
March 14 (Reuters) - Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk said on Saturday that the company's Terafab project to make artificial intelligence chips will launch in seven days.
Musk had said last year that Tesla probably will have to build "a gigantic chip fab" to make artificial intelligence chips...

The Global Race for AI Compute: Infrastructure, Semiconductors, and the Bottlenecks Ahead (≈500 words)
The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence is driving an unprecedented surge in global demand for computing infrastructure. As discussed in a recent...
March 12 (Reuters) - TikTok's Chinese parent, ByteDance, is assembling computing power with top Nvidia chips outside China to drive its artificial intelligence efforts globally, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

In the last 3 months I have only seen TSMC design starts at 3nm and 2nm. Dozens of design starts, dozens of AI chips, and not one Intel 18A, Samsung 2F or Rapidus 2nm. It is going to be a long and hot summer, absolutely.
I cannot think of a more fertile ground for chip start-ups in my 40+ year career. I am currently tracking 25+ AI EDA companies which is amazing. EDA has never been more energized, absolutely.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. is expanding its workforce and production footprint as global demand for advanced chips grows.
The key contract chipmaker's expansion plans remain on track despite the U.S.–Iran conflict, which has triggered a broad selloff in semiconductor and major...
ARM is helping with this. Arm is going big on the custom ASIC business. I do not see any of this denting Nvidia. Look at the deals Jensen is pulling off!
Jensen Huang was at the Synopsys event today. That guy is having too much fun. GTC next week!
Not at this time. The China slowdown will definitely help. TSMC is literally working around the clock to expand N3 and build N2 so I do not see a problem. There is also the HBM4 shortage so no I don't think TSMC will have short term capacity issues.
I am still only seeing TSMC N2 tape-outs but...
Meta (META) has debuted four new AI chips as part of its Meta Training and Inference Accelerator family of in-house processors. The new chips are part of the social media giant’s efforts to take advantage of both commercial GPUs from Nvidia (NVDA) and AMD (AMD), as well as its own offerings, to...

Nvidia has halted production of artificial intelligence (AI) chips intended for the Chinese market and redirected manufacturing capacity at TSMC to its next-generation Vera Rubin platform, as regulatory barriers in both the US and China continue to cloud prospects for sales to...

China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security is studying measures to harness artificial intelligence (AI)...
Same here, big dot com vibe and certainly there are bubbles inside the AI bubbles but from what I can see in the trenches is that agentic AI use inside semiconductor companies is at the tip of the ice berg. The big companies are developing their own AI tools that will interface into the EDA...
