Intel in talks with other large investors for equity boost at discount, sources say

Will be interesting to see how LBT and Yeary pitch the INTEL business case to Wall Street's bankers.
And if these WS-Bankers will Walk the Talk for what INTEL shares' discounted price:

INTEL-Foundry TSMC
Revenue-2024 (B US$) 17,5 88,3
#Wafers processed (M12eq) 1 12.9

Avg. wafer eq. price for customer (k US$) 17.5 6.8
Companies gross margin (%) 37.6 (INTEL total) 56.1

Cash and cash eq. 31 Dec 2024 (B US$) 8.2 63.8 (assum 1 NTD = 0.03 USD per 31 Dec 2024)
Current liabilities&LongTermDebt (B US$) 82 68,0

Lip-Bu is making it rain....... Next we need to hear about Hero Customers!

Seriously. The investments are coming. Where are the customers?

In some ways, making an investment decision is relatively easier because, although we may not know the ultimate return on investment, we do know the maximum potential loss. It can't be more than the total amount invested.

However, choosing or winning a foundry partner to manufacture the design you’ve staked your money and dreams on can be a true life or death outcome. On the successful side, you could become the next Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company. On the failure side, the result could be bankruptcy or complete shutdown.

well i think this is a better bet take equity in Intel for like your deal. Take $2-3 Billion Equity give 2-3Billion$ worth of order when the share jump dump the equity if you play it right you can get your investment+profit back alongside order.

Versus an imaginary customer? :ROFLMAO: Yes they are two companies I have actually heard of that are not the US Government. Not huge volumes but it is a start.
We heard this before back in 2021 2022 etc. Prepayment, whales, commitments. Upon further review, they were not commitments. they were plans to run some wafers someday and run a test chip if Intel paid for it. Imaginary customers with imaginary tapeout dates ..... orthogonal to real customers

So two customers have committed to run a defined product on 14A? and has a tapeout date? correct?

I heard this from the ecosystem not Pat Gelsinger. They are working with the 14A .5 PDK which is early in the design cycle. I don't know anything about the wafer agreements. There are several conferences coming up so I will probably hear more I'm sure. Hopefully Intel will not say anything about 14A customers until tapeouts.

That's right, let's win trust first
In this foundry business, there are a certain number of customers who, from an outsider's perspective, are quite eccentric and go to the trouble of asking IFS, which is still a baby, to manufacture their chips. So, the first thing we need to do is win the hearts and minds of these curious customers, and then we can win their trust and spread our reputation.

Let's make them a regular customer
And there will be a lot of new customers coming later.

If Intel deliver on TTM, pricing and yield -- like Samsung didn't... ;-)
