My comments were solely about the automotive line. And I think you are taking the integrated in IAM too literally. Even chip companies that are IDMs buy their foundational constituents, wafers, gases, materials, etc. from someplace else, just like Tesla. But they do both the chip design and manufacture of the final product. For Tesla, the chassis integrated with batteries and motor, plus the central compute system including infotainment through FSD and OTA updates are the IP.

I think BYD is doing great, honestly. Though it's hard to tell how much of that is government subsidy at this stage.
I think it is similar to that TSM gets gov support in Taiwan.
Some of it is for sure, but not all.
BYD has taken vertical integration to the next level. From what I have heard, they own the mines that dredge up the Lithium, the factories that process the lithium into raw material for battery cell production, the battery cell factory, the battery pack factory, and of course, the manufacturing plant.
I am not sure about the copper and the motors, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case there as well.
