Will TSM rule in building AI/ML chips?

With AI/ML looking to the fastest and largest market for high end chips, is there any competition on the horizon, or is their lead insurmountable and for what length of time? Will Intel and Samsung even be in the game and if so, how do they plan to take the lead or even come close to catching up?
Will optical chips ever come into play in the AI/ML game or is the technology to far out or unworkable?
