Will collaborating with AI be the future, AIs collaborating with each other?

It seems at this point in time, collaborating with AI be the best way forward. The power of collaboration of people has been proved repeatedly, it's a wonder that AI hasn't been treated as a partner to collaborate with. Maybe in the future, different forms of AI/ML may be the best way forward. Any thoughts or expansions of this approach would be welcome if it hasn't already been done. GAN networks may be the way forward as Micron worked with years ago to self program each other to beat chess masters.
