At the SoC IP conference this week there was talk about Arm's solutions team doing prototypes:


The question is will Arm ultimately sell chips? According to Twitter and other absurd news sources they are: :ROFLMAO:

Superficially this looks like a really dumb move at the wrong time. (Just when the merchant chip market is generally threatened by in-house designs fab'd at foundries.) It might be that Arm sees an existential threat to its licensing revenue from RISC-V, doesn't want to be bought, by say Nvidia, and sees no other way out. Nah. It still looks dumb to me.
