Will AI codify Knowledge?

The world is increasing its knowledge base at a staggering rate, the question is at what rate will AI codify new knowledge and discoveries making it truly useful and taking us into a new age? Robotic labs with AI have already made new discoveries on their own using this conversion process. Any thoughts on those working with AI/ML would be appreciated.
