Sony to spin off semiconductor business

Amid acquisitions and consolidation, now we have spin off. The semiconductor business unit to be spun off out of Sony.

"Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation" will be established as a separate company to reinforce semiconductor devices segment where image sensor is the primary area of focus. The announcement at Sony website is HERE. The spin off is to reinforce accountability among business managers and grow the business.

Consolidation, or Spin off, isn't there stress on growth of maturing semiconductor business?
 
Sony semiconductor division is the leader in image sensors with 40% market share. They may not sell it but try to strengthen the business with more accountability. But who knows, in future if required, it will be easier to sell.
