Gelsinger can be low key ungracious at times when he isn't the center of attention. Even when he tries to compliment, he has to stick in these caveats that pulls down the subject a little and brings him up a little. His inability to not bring up luck when talking about Nvidia, "I coulda been a contenduh" Larrabee, etc. can be tough to watch.

All the guests for this "pre-game" show were invited, suggested, or approved by Jensen Huang. Every person was there for important business or historical reasons related to Nvidia or Jensen Huang—except one: Pat Gelsinger.
I feel the most likely reason is that Jensen Huang wanted to cheer up his old friend Pat Gelsinger after Pat's unhappy exit from Intel.
