Intel Shifts to TSMC for Chip Production: A Looming Threat for AMD?

Either he knows something we are missing to take such a huge risk seems like he was not kidding when he said he bet the company on 18A let's see what happens in like 8-9 months
I suspect that 18A will be launched come he!! or high water. It would be political suicide not to launch it. The bigger question for me is when it will launch, and how effective it will be in both yields and performance (thermal and density). Generally speaking, Pat has lots of design levers that can be moved in order to declare 18A "launched"..... but pulling too many of those levers could leave Intel in a less than enviable position.

Didn’t Pat already state he was bringing it all in-house?

With 5N4Y investment can’t be justified without bringing the CPU, GPU and SoC tiles all back and assembled in-house as well. W/O that investment in technology and manufacturing simply can’t be justified more set the foundation for Foundry.

It’ll all be apparent next year, pull out the popcorn. Lots of excitement in Hinschu and Hillsboro for sure, Korea not so much
