Battery technologies are becoming the great race due to the rapidly increasing use in just about everything, making a market of ever increasing importance, attracting ever more investment and technologies. With a CAGR of over 12%, it is one of the fastest growing mega markets out there and will be a key battleground for IP in everything from materials to advanced construction. There is still large room for improvement in this area with many specialized solutions spread over an ever increasing number of applications. Currently at 92 billion and growing fast, this is actually one of the largest markets in the electronics field and attracting staggering sums for everything from R&D to production. This is a tremendous market and much IP from the semiconductor sector applies directly to many phases of battery and energy storage. This is far to important for any company doing any R&D that could possibly be used in energy storage to ignore. It's possible one or even some of the semi technology companies find some key technologies and make them become a major player in this market. If this happens, the numbers are so staggering for the company that it could be a game changer for the semi industry. Any thoughts or comments appreciated.
